You wander through
dead spaces,
a memorial
to words long gone.
Wash away
the sadness of the day
and welcome in
the numbing calm
of night.
I surrender to the world
and am carried along
by its flow.
Its waters wash me
to dark and scary places,
but then the tide comes in
and I am washed out
to places full
of light and laughter.
I miss the memory of you
of the nostalgia
that colors everything rose.
I can only visit
again in my dreams.
