Sea of Words

I got laid off on Wednesday. Losing a job is always a life signal that you need to reflect on yourself. I wasn't very productive and performing well in the job since October and So, I'm starting to think I don't thrive in mostly unstructured environments and places where you don't have things you need to accomplish by the end of the day. I was doing pretty well when I was in customer service because there was very little downtime and things were easily tracked and you were judged based on the amount of tickets you closed. With marketing it's more project based and since I was using my own laptop, I ended up spending hours just browsing the internet and not getting much done.

Wash away

the sadness of the day

and welcome in

the numbing calm

of night.

Today, I discovered Dreamwidth has a feed of recent posts. I'm glad I did because I found another resource for Mandarin learning which should help with writing. My local Mandarin practice group feel apart during lockdown, so I've been struggling to find a new one.

I surrender to the world

and am carried along

by its flow.

Its waters wash me

to dark and scary places,

but then the tide comes in

and I am washed out

to places full

of light and laughter.

I miss the memory of you

of the nostalgia

that colors everything rose.

I can only visit

again in my dreams.
