An Au in which Hashirama decides to fake both his and Madara's deaths in an effort to force their brothers to make peace. It works and Izuna and Tobirama team up to hunt down what killed their brothers. They don't find their brothers murderer, but they do find Zetsu and take him down. Then they find Hashirama and Madara alive.

Both Izuna and Tobirama are pissed. Tobirama feels like his world has been cut out from underneath him because he was only staying alive to keep the Senju together. Izuna cannot believe that his own brother would go along with it and maybe gets the Rinnegan from sheer betrayal (plus he's been around Senju chakra a lot at this point which must have helped). Tobirama reminds them of Mito who is also pissed at them because Hashirama left her alone and pregnant (he didn't know, but still).

Both Tobirama and Izuna run away together bc neither of them wants to deal with their idiot brothers for a few years. Mito goes back to Uzushio to raise her kid and the Senju and Uchiha have peace because they're both pissed at their clan heads. The village is built and unanimously, everyone elects Hashirama as Hokage because he's the only one ruthless enough for the position. The Uchiha are subtly trying to find a new clan head because no one wants to have kids with Madara.

Meanwhile, Izuna and Tobirama have formed what would later be known as the Akatsuki, an unaffiliated organization that mediates between anyone and everyone so that no one is as desperate for peace as their brothers were.
