Hiram nodded. “You weren’t expecting this were you?”
“Y…you can’t be.”
“I loved her, you know.” He walked closer and knelt in front of Wolf. “She was brilliant.”
“Why did you poison her then?” Wolf’s voice was hoarse and the words scraped his throat as they were expelled out.
Hiram’s smile turned into a frown. “I had to….she found out about the trick.”
“You trapped Seres’s father in the Starlight tower.”
